Cascadia GBC: Natural Talent Design Competition - The Living Building and Transportation

Registration Deadline:  Monday, Apr 20, 20095:59 AMEDT

Submission Deadline:  Tuesday, Apr 28, 20095:59 AMEDT

We are pleased to announce the launch Cascadia Green Building Council’s 2009 Natural Talent Design Competition (NTDC).  Every year, the NTDC challenges the bright green young minds of Cascadia to tackle the design of a Living Building while meeting the requirements of the national NTDC.  We are contacting you in hopes that you will share this information with interested parties and be an integral part in the nurturing of students and young professionals in the green building movement.

The 2009 NTDC considers the interrelationship of transportation and community with ecological building design.  This year’s recommended site lies near the St. John’s Bridge in Portland - a hop, skip and paddle away from Living Future 09, where the awards will be announced.  The winning team will receive $1,000 and a ticket to compete in the national NTDC at Greenbuild 2009 in Phoenix, AZ, with a grand prize of $5,000. Last year’s regional winners went on to earn the grand prize at the national competition in Boston, MA.

Regional submissions are due April 27. Inter-disciplinary teams of up to 5 people are strongly encouraged. The Competition is open to all individuals Internationally and within the US whom do not have a designated USGBC chapter in their geographical region (“http://www.usgbc.org/DisplayPage.aspx?CMSPageID=257”) or all individuals who reside in the Cascadia bioregion (Alberta CA, Alaska US, Washington US, Oregon US).  For more information and registration, please visit the following website: “http://www.cascadiagbc.org/emerging-green-builders/NTDC09”
