Envision: A Framework for Sustainable Infrastructure

Tuesday, Jul 7, 20206 PM - 7:30 PMEDT

Online Event | Click here to attend and/or register

*In light of ongoing demonstrations for racial equity, this event has been rescheduled for July 7 in solidarity with protestors and as a courtesy to anyone who will be taking part in demonstrations. Please register for the new date here.*

As cities continue to grow and development continues to move forward, the need for sustainable infrastructure becomes paramount. In 2017, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Gutteres stated, “Infrastructure investment will be crucial. The world should adopt a simple rule: if big infrastructure projects are not green, they should not be given the green light. Otherwise, we will be locked into bad choices for decades to come.” Envision provides a consistent, consensus-based framework for assessing sustainability and resilience in infrastructure and serves as a decision-making guide, not a set of prescriptive measures. Envision not only asks, “Are we doing the project right?” but also, “Are we doing the right project?”

Speakers:
Joshua DeFlorio, Chief of Resilience and Sustainability, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey
Anthony Kane, President and CEO, Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure
Ruth Krieger, Associate Vice President, HDR
Jennifer Ninete, Sustainability Consultant, HDR
Matthew Potter, Project Architect, HNTB
MichaellaWittmann, Director of Sustainability, HDR

Organized by AIANY Transportation and Infrastructure Committee
