Coronavirus: A Great Leveller?

Thursday, Jun 18, 20207 PM - 8 PMBST

Online Event | Click here to attend and/or register

A virtual round table discussion about the power in-balances exposed by the global pandemic.

[Coronavirus] "is not a great leveller, the consequences of which rich and poor suffer the same. This is a myth that needs debunking". So said Emily Maitlis in her introduction to Newsnight on April 8th.

She was of course absolutely right, she continued.

"Those on the front line, bus drivers, shelf stackers, nurses, care home workers, hospital staff and shop keepers are disproportionately the lower paid members of our workforce, they are more likely to catch the disease because they are more exposed..."

This was also, Maitlis also noted, about housing and access to open spaces.

XXAOC (Female Architects of Colour) asks participants from our film including, Sharon Egretta Sutton, Elsie Owusu, BFA's Neba Sere, Selasi Setufe, Stephanie Edwards, and Part W's Yẹmí Aládérun as architects, as a society, how do we move forward and tackle the issues around inequality raised by the Global Pandemic.
