The National Arts Club Examines Saarinen’s Flight Center for TWA

Thursday, May 27, 20216 PM - 8 PMEDT

Online Event | Click here to attend and/or register

The National Arts Club will examine Saarinen’s Flight Center for TWA during an online conversation on Thursday, May 27 at 6:00 PM (ET).

Eero Saarinen’s iconic Flight Center for Trans World Airlines (TWA) 20-year revitalization process charted changing attitudes to mid-century modern architecture and the sustainable regeneration of obsolete transportation buildings. The design approach integrated contemporary technology and programmatic requirements while carefully restoring the landmarked structure.

The TWA Hotel opened in May 2019 and has returned Saarinen’s masterpiece to public use. Vacant for two decades and threatened with demolition, the TWA Flight Center has been restored and adapted for use as an airport hotel at JFK Airport.

This presentation is led by Miriam Kelly, Principal, Beyer Blinder Belle.
