Reclaim Holloway:

A Women's Building For London

Digital Talk #3

Therapeutic Architecture

June 21st, 19:00

Third in a series of architectural panel discussions centred around the planned Women's Building on the site of Holloway Prison. Until its closure in 2016, HM Prison Holloway was the largest female prison in western Europe. The government’s decision to sell this piece of public land has created a unique opportunity to honour the deep and layered history of the site through the provision of a Women’s Building. Can the process of design development and parallel community engagement play a therapeutic role when delivering a building with such heavy history and symbolic importance? What role does architectural expression play in encouraging healing? Join us for this crucial discussion with the following panelists:

Niki Gibbs (Artist, Community Plan 4 Holloway)

Yvonne Jewkes (University of Bath)

Nisha Kurian (We Made That)

Kate Paradine (Women In Prison)
