Tour Calgary’s most future-forward parkade with d.talks!

Tuesday, Jul 20, 202112 PM - 1 PMMDT

Online Event | Click here to attend and/or register

On July 20, d.talks “Untold City” will continue its exploration of Calgary’s urban environment with a virtual tour of the East Village Platform Innovation Centre & Parkade.

Kate Thompson, President and CEO of Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) will guide participants towards an indepth understanding of this innovative building. Joining Kate in speaking about the building and answering participants’ questions will be Joanne Sparks, Associate and Registered Architect, Kasian Architecture Interior Design and Planning, and Sukhpreet Kaur, Registered Architect, Zeidler Architecture.

A key question informing this tour is, “How do we design for the future while making sure it still works for the present moment?” Designed to adapt to different uses at different times, the Platform Innovation Centre & Parkade anticipates a future full of shared mobility and multi-modal transportation options that could alter future demand for parking a single occupancy vehicle. The building negotiates today’s demand for parking in Calgary with enough flexibility to adapt to how we might get around in the near future.

The d.talks tour of the new “innovation heart” in Calgary’s East Village will encompass all seven stories of parking in the Platform Innovation Centre & Parkade as well as the 50,000 square feet of office space that Platform Calgary and 50 partner institutions will use as an innovation hub later this year. The tour will also visit the public sport court and a rentable outdoor event space that features city-scape views and safe distancing on the rooftop.
