Laskey Charrette Kickoff Lecture: Yasmin Vobis

Friday, Feb 4, 20226 PM - 7 PMCST

Steinberg Auditorium, Steinberg Hall, Washington University in St. Louis Saint Louis, MO, US Online Event | Click here to attend and/or register

Yasmin Vobis (RA, NCARB)—co-principal of Ultramoderne, an architecture and design office located in Providence, RI, and an assistant professor of architecture at Harvard Graduate School of Design—will deliver the Laskey Charrette Kickoff Lecture, titled A HAT IS A HOUSE.

Vobis studied architecture at the University of California, Berkeley and at Princeton University, where she was awarded the Butler Traveling Fellowship and the Suzanne Kolarik Underwood Prize. She has practiced in the offices of Ogrydziak Prillinger Architects, Guy Nordenson and Associates Structural Engineers, and Steven Holl Architects. In addition, she has taught at Princeton University, Rhode Island School of Design, the Cooper Union, and Brown University. She was awarded the Founders/Arnold W. Brunner/Katherine Edwards Gordon Rome Prize in Architecture in 2016.

About the Laskey Charrette

The Laskey Charrette honors Professor Emeritus Leslie J. Laskey and his singular approach to design education during his 35-year tenure at Washington University. For this intensive, weekend-long workshop, second-year architecture students work in teams to brainstorm ideas for a given design challenge. Their final designs are exhibited and reviewed, with a jury of faculty awarding prizes. The charrette is presented annually by Studio L in collaboration with the College of Architecture and Graduate School of Architecture & Urban Design.
