RIBA Photo Festival 2023

The RIBA Photo Festival celebrates the photography of the built environment in its many forms.

Throughout the festival, there will be opportunities for discussions and debate on the significance of this medium and its future in the digital age.

Programme

8 November

  • Meet the photographer: Martine Hamilton Knight (10am to 1pm)
  • Curator tour of the Wide-Angle View exhibition (1.30pm to 2.15pm)
  • Architectural Photography Now roundtable (6.30pm to 8pm)

9 November

  • Meet the photographer: Ian Beesley (10am to 1pm)
  • Visit the Robert Elwall Photographs collection (5.30pm to 6.30pm)
  • Hidden in Plain Sight: the photography of Nikola Olić (7pm to 9pm)
  • BSL interpreted curator tour of the Wide-Angle View exhibition (3pm to 3.30pm)

10 November

  • RIBA Photo Festival study day - session 1: collecting architectural photography (10.30am to 1.30pm)
  • RIBA Photo Festival study day - session 2: interpretingarchitectural photography (2.30pm to 5.30pm)
  • Buy both study day sessions at a discounted rate
  • The Colin Rowe Lecture series: Hélène Binet (6.30pm to 9.30pm)

11 November

  • Capturing Cityscapes: crafting cameras and shaping perspectives - RIBA Youth Forum workshop for ages 13 to 18 (11am to 3pm)
  • Curator tour of the Wide-Angle View exhibition (2pm to 2.45pm)

  • Architectural photography masterclass with RIBA and The British Library (11 to 12 November)

About the RIBA Photographs Collection

RIBA’s photographic collection comprises around 1.5 million images from the earliest days of photography to the present day.

Used by students, scholars, architects, planners and heritage campaigners, as well as the wider public, RIBA's Collections continue to play a role in shaping many of our future buildings, towns and cities.

The Colin Rowe Lecture series is a collaboration between the Centre for Architecture and Visual Arts at the University of Liverpool and the Robert Elwall Photographs Collection at RIBA.
