The Architecture of Sou Fujimoto: Primordial Future Forest

Wednesday, Jul 2, 202510 AM — Sunday, Nov 9, 202510 PMJST

Mori Art Museum Tokyo, JP Tokyo, JP | Mori Art Museum

This landmark exhibition presents a comprehensive survey of Sou Fujimoto’s oeuvre—spanning over thirty years—from early competitions like the Aomori Museum of Art to his latest global projects, including the Expo 2025 Grand Ring and House of Music in Hungary  . The show is organized into eight thematic sections, including a “Forest of Tracks” chronology, immersive installations, large-scale models, and experimental presentations that embody Fujimoto’s thinking around openness, ambiguity, and complexity.

Using the museum’s contemporary-art context, the exhibition immerses visitors in Fujimoto’s spatial philosophy. It features large installations—such as a mock-up “forest” installation and projections visualizing human movement—and interactive displays like staged conversations between architectural “characters”  . For architects and designers, the show offers a tangible encounter with his vision: architecture as a “future forest” weaving together people, nature, and urban form—highlighting how his work addresses shifting societal values, fragmented communities, and environmental challenges.
