ZKM | Center for Art and Media: Lorenzstraße 19 76135 Karlsruhe, DE Karlsruhe, DE | ZKM | Center for Art and Media: Lorenzstraße 19 76135

The exhibition aims at introducing new perspectives on the work of Frei Otto as well as formulating present-day questions concerning the future of our built environment involving architecture, technology, sustainability and society.

Being one of the most internationally celebrated and innovative German architects of the 20th century, Frei Otto (1925-2015) was awarded the Pritzker Prize for his life work last year, which is considered the most recognized award for architecture globally. On the occasion of this honour, the »Südwestdeutsches Archiv für Architektur und Ingenieurbau« (saai) and the Wüstenrot Foundation are planning the biggest exhibition to date of the work of Frei Otto in cooperation with the ZKM.

The exhibition will showcase well-known as well as completely unknown projects. The material on display covers a total of more than 200 design models, objects and instruments, more than 1,000 photos, drawings, sketches, plans and films, as well as various large-scaled media projections.
