Come and hear architect Liam Hennessy's proposals to transform Park Lane from a 10 lane highway to a fine boulevard, humanising what is currently a noisy, polluted urban motorway.
What we now call Park Lane is made up of two distinct parts: East Carriage Drive, originally for horses and carriages, on the Hyde Park side; and Park Lane, originally a lane, closest to Mayfair.
The proposed boulevard would use the space currently occupied by the southbound traffic, closest to Mayfair. This would be cleared of all motor traffic to become an extensive pedestrian boulevard.
