This is a six week course entitled ‘Architecture as Activism’. It exists within the Sustainable Design curriculum offered by the University of California Berkeley Extension in San Francisco. The class will be structured to operate as an ad hoc design studio - a Free Design Clinic - working for the vast community of nonprofits, shelters, SROs and small business owners typically under-served by our profession. We will open our doors during the scheduled class hours to anyone seeking design advice, education and services. This is a chance for the Architectural profession to walk-the- walk, to actively engage with its community, to apply our talents toward producing meaningful work, to identify potential new clients and to create new modes of thinking and operating within the profession.
