MGM Mirage City Center: A Vision, A Reality

When: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 Where: At The Center MGM MIRAGE began CityCenter in 2004 with a 67 acre blank canvas and the ambitious vision to create one of the world’s most dynamic cities. Ehrenkrantz, Eckstut and Kuhn Architects was selected to develop a master plan for a high-density destination with interesting places and experiences, smooth public circulation and a regard for its context. MGM MIRAGE executives traveled the world searching for the architects to make this project a reality. The search resulted in the selection of: Helmut Jahn, RV Architecture, Foster + Partners, Kohn Peterson Fox, Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, Studio Daniel Libeskind, Rockwell Group and Gensler. This core team of design visionaries was joined by a team of 90 additional design professionals to ensure design diversification and attention to detail. The $8.9 billion CityCenter reflects an optimistic vision of the future, a vision that combines a healthy quality of life with a global commitment to sustainable design. The eight award winning architects have engineered a “city within a city” where residents and visitors can live, work and play. They have created a vibrant community that provides a remarkable demonstration that a community can be beautiful and sustainable. Sven Van Assche, Vice President MGM MIRAGE Design Group, has been involved with the project since its inception.
