Please join the Friends of 339 for a presentation and celebration of the Peace Pentagon Competition results. We will discuss the tremendous response we received to our Call to Action, which engaged the international design community to propose environmentally and financially sustainable solutions for saving the historic Peace Pentagon. Architects, designers and artists from around the world submitted 128 proposals. Friends of 339 has been impressed by both the quality and creative energy of the submissions and considers this output to be an integral part of the ongoing efforts to re-build this building for future generations of peace and social justice activists. Speakers from the 339 Lafayette Community will discuss the history of the building and the current crisis. Greg Sholette of REPO History and Bill Menking of the Architects Newspaper will provide context for this project and discuss their experience with the building. Two of three First Prize winners and 7 teams that received Honorable Mentions will make brief presentations of their proposals.
