Urban design intervention
Parade will be back in and around the Netherlands Architecture Institute this summer from 12 to 22 June. This year the NAI and the Parade have given the festival site in Rotterdam a new look. A five-metre-tall traverse, designed by the Observatorium artists, delimits the site around the NAI, is open to the public, offers a view of the Parade, and ensures that access between the city and the museum park remains open. The urban design intervention is in line with the permanent desire to build in Rotterdam, current issues such as enlivening the public space, and the activities of the NAI.
Theatre in the NAI
The cooperation between Parade and the NAI has also been intensified as far as the programming is concerned. NL28 – Olympic Fire can be seen in the main gallery of the NAI. This exhibition uses scale models, film, debate and theatre to visualise the organisation of the 2028 Olympics in the Netherlands. The Parade performance ‘Hand of God’ will be presented in this exhibition, in the arena of the Olympic Stadium, during Parade.
Architecture meets theatre
Can architecture and theatre exert an influence on one another? And if so, how? The NAI thinks they can! So drop in, go up, walk on, go down, and enjoy wonderful play at the intersection of space and movement.
