"Intercultural living | economies of change" The second International Summer School hosted by UdN will give another insight into the questions of recent urban reality. 25 young architects, urban planners, landscape architects and urban designers will evaluate their knowledge of urban development and participate in urban practice while living and working together on the Neighbourhood University UdN site. The UdN Summerschool is an international and interdisciplinary project presented by the HafenCity University (HCU) Hamburg chairs of „Urban Design and Community Planning“ and „UD Urban Design“. The Neighbourhood University UdN is a research and education initiative created by the HCU in cooperation with the International Building Exhibition (IBA) Hamburg and the Kampnagel Culture Factory. The UdN is both site and object for the Summerschool: a multiple, polyvalent learning device – being laboratory, construction site, stage, interactive learning space and common space. Being located in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg, we are going to reflect upon economies of change within the context of intercultural living. By examining ways of ex- and interchange, existing boundaries of planning will be extended and the field of urban studies opened. We invite you to take part in an extraordinary experience: We are going to produce scientific knowledge will be combined with issues of intercultural coexistence, as borders between professions, languages and cultures will dissolve. For a period of weeks, participating students will explore the production of space within an evolving architecture of possibility and reflect upon their experiences in the context of urban development. http://www.udn.hcu-hamburg.de/summerschool2010.html
