Design Speed Dating: Portfolio Reviews

This Saturday, September 11, we're hosting our third Seasonal Brunch / Open House from 11-2 at Van Alen Institute for our members and their guests. Join us for an inside glimpse of our ongoing projects and upcoming programs, chat with others in the VAI community, and enjoy rapid-fire portfolio reviews during our second round of Design Speed Dating. As with the first round, Design Speed Dating participants will present their portfolios to established designers, critics, and professionals in a "speed-dating" or round-robin format. Our reviewers this round include Kevin Lippert (Princeton Architectural Press), Vishaan Chakrabarti (Director, Real Estate Development Program, GSAPP, Columbia University), Winka Dubbeldam (Archi-Tectonics) and Jonathan Marvel (Rogers Marvel Architects). VAI is also very pleased to announce the inauguration of "Threshold", a new interface with the city on the groundfloor of the VAI building. "Threshold" seeks to reimagine the physical and conceptual boundaries between public and private space by transforming the building and its sidewalk into a space for open-ended, participatory architectural and urban experimentation. An installation by our summer New York Prize Fellows Annie Han and Daniel Mihalyo (Lead Pencil Studio) will be on view starting September 11th.
