This October 2nd, the second annual Unfrozen Music concert, performed by a collection of LA architects, will take place on the stage of the MLK Jr. Auditorium at the Santa Monica Main Library. Frances Anderton, host of KCRW’s Design and Architecture (DnA), will once again preside over the free event which gives a light hearted nod to the relationship between architecture and music. “Architects are passionate people, and that passion often pours out through multiple channels of expression.” said Unfrozen Music’s executive director, Craig Shimahara. “After listening to an architect play a violin solo, it’s fun to imagine what kind of buildings he or she might design.” The two hour concert will feature an eclectic program ranging from classical piano to indie rock to Latin jazz. The name of the concert is a reference to a quote from nineteenth century German theorist, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who stated, “I consider architecture frozen music.” Unfrozen Music Saturday, October 2nd, 2010 Santa Monica Main Library 601 Santa Monica Blvd. Santa Monica, CA 90401 7:00pm – 9:00pm Doors open at 6:30pm.
