Municipal Art Society: Renaissance in Newtown Creek

The environment of Newtown Creek suffered from merciless abuse and neglect for more than a century, but recent years have brought improvements. On the Brooklyn side, we’ll view the striking New York City Department of Environmental Protection Wastewater Treatment Plant and walk along its adjacent George Trakas designed Nature Trail. Then we’ll cross the Pulaski Bridge to Long Island City, ending at a nexus of contemporary artists’ studios and exhibition spaces. $15, $10 MAS members. Pay at tour.
