"Plan Check, Certification and the Role of the Division of the State Architect" a roundtable discussion to brainstorm ideas Monday, March 21 (6:00 - 8:00pm) AIA Los Angeles 3780 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 800 Los Angeles, CA 90010 RSVP to Will Wright at will {at} aialosangeles.org Please join architects John Dale, FAIA, Jim Favaro, AIA and Clifton Allen, AIA in a focused brainstorming session about the evolving role of the Division of the State Architect. The discussion will focus on possible changes to DSA's role in the plan checking and certification of public K-12 schools, including topics such as: *Allowing Architects of Record to self-certify public K-12 school projects at the end of construction; and *Allowing DSA to delegate plan check functions to local building departments for selected K-12 districts. *Considerations for a "tiered DSA process" that streamlines review for small projects. At the end of the meeting, the group will attempt to reach a consensus on developing a position brief to present to AIA|CC to help advance the conversation.
