Due to Gallery Sora's refurbishment plans for its existing building in Fall 2009, a new complex building designed by architect Akihisa Hirata is currently being prepared. As a final project before the dismantling begins, Sora is holding a special two day exhibition by Kyoko Ishikawa. This project sees Ishikawa working in cooperation with gallery staff on the organization and preparation of artworks and other baggage prior to the dismantling of the gallery. Things left behind by resident artists and works related to exhibitions held at Sora will be gathered up and used in an installation work using the entire building, which includes the first floor exhibition space and the second floor residence space. In addition to being a symbolic gesture looking back at the exhibitions and activities held at this space since the November 2005 opening, this is a prime opportunity for visitors to get a foretaste of the upcoming refurbishment and the new gallery being planned. This exhibition, being a special show held before construction work begins, will be divided into two parts. Ishikawa herself will also be present at the gallery between 16:00-18:00 on August 22nd. Two days only, August 22nd (Fri) and 23rd (Sat) First part: 11:00-13:00, second part: 16:00-18:00 (closed 13:00-16:00) Address: 1-25-1 Shinkawa, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 104-0033 (Map) Gallery Sora
