Make a Difference in Two Days: Design presentations and discussion

Six teams of designers will present and discuss their 48-hour experiences with design/build projects intended to make a positive impact on city life and contribute to the public good. The presentations are the culmination of a weekend challenge defined by Bryan Bell, founder of Design Corps and author of Expanding Architecture: Design as Activism. The projects, all selected, conceived and built in two days, demonstrate the potential of the design activism movement to transform urban experience through small, elegant interventions. This architectural exercise in direct action and community-“building” moves from strictly needs-based approaches toward practical, asset-based creativity.
