Paul Villinski: "Emergency Response Studio"

Friday, Jan 30, 20091 AM — Monday, Mar 2, 20091 AMEDT

Rice University Art Gallery, Houston, Texas | Rice University Art Gallery, Houston, Texas

Artist Paul Villinski will install his "Emergency Response Studio" on the Brochstein Plaza in front of Rice Gallery; it is the second in an ongoing series of architectural installations. To create "ERS," Villinski transformed a salvaged FEMA-style trailer into a rolling, off-the-grid live/work space that can house displaced artists, or allow visiting artists to “embed” in post-disaster settings. "Emergency Response Studio" will be accompanied by an installation in Rice Gallery detailing Villinski's construction process and featuring additional information on "movable" housing as well as "green" technology and building materials. On view January 29 – March 1, 2009. More information at: www.ricegallery.org
