Montréal, Quebec | Montréal, Quebec

SIDIM 2009: Audacity, creativity and sustainable development within design On May 21, 22, 23 2009, the Place Bonaventure will host the 21st edition of the Montréal International Interior Design Show, high in trendsetting ideas, green materials, new products and top designers and design companies from here and abroad. UNVEILING NEW PROJECTS PRODUCTIONS INTERFACE DESIGN, a 3D player The inferior floors leading up to the Gall Exhibition Hall of the Place Bonaventure will showcase the different roles played by interface design amongst the design community in Quebec. Acting as SIDIM’s promoter, as PRIX INTÉRIEURS | FERDIE AWARDS’ organiser and as INTÉRIEURS magazine’s editor, INTERFACE DESIGN’s team works hard to promote the uniqueness of the design industry. During the show, INTÉRIEURS EN VILLE, a special guide comprised of essential Montreal design addresses and favourite spots unveiled by a personality panel, will be offered to visitors for free. BUILDING GREEN: the new dimension of Building for the Future Set up under the South Mezzanine of the Place Bonaventure Grand Exhibition Hall, right as visitors enter the Show, « Building for the Future » is renamed BUILDING GREEN and showcases green design and architecture products and services. Sponsored by leading industry players and backed by a greater-than-ever collaboration with l’Ordre des Architectes du Québec, the project revolves around seven themes: construction and its components, architecture and landscape architecture, industrial and sustainable design, energy efficiency, environment, urban planning and sustainable development, intelligent building and communications, materials, tools and renovations. ÉLECTRO-CHOC : Lighting strikes between the kitchen and appliances! Booths are transformed into dream kitchens as scintillating as the appliances’ stainless steel surfaces or the kitchens’ cabinets, countertops and coverings. A new project is brewing, initiated by Quebecois’ prime choice in residential spaces, the kitchen – so often renovated and enlarged to comprise also of the dining area. Lighting will be sure to strike between kitchen manufacturers such as Svea Kitchens, and top names in appliances such as Thermador, Gaggenau, Elica, Zephyr, Viking, Bloomberg, Fulgor and Fisher & Paykel! CLASSIC UNFORGETTABLES CARREFOUR INTERNATIONAL : high caliber design takes flight In a unifying concept designed by Francis Rollin, Mélissa Mongiat and Amilie Bilodeau, the space will welcome companies from all of Italy thanks to Italian government funding as well as French créateurs, exhibiting through UbiFrance or Paris Développement. Austrians as well as Chinese are also expected, to name a few. A mission of Chinese design professionals and buyers is preparing itself for the Show which has become, over the years, a true platform to importing design products from Europe, Asia and Africa. TRIBUNE DES DESIGNERS and SÉRIE LIMITÉE : Showcasing the talents of Québec Since 1989, the Tribune des designers puts forward established and up-and-coming Québec designers eager to present their latest editions, such as Aquaovo, who propelled themselves and their OVOpur water filtering system on the Canadian market at the last SIDIM and who are coming again in May to present a new product, just as organic as their previous.
