International art and antiques dealers will again participate in the 2009 fair, organised by London-based fair organisers, Haughton International Fairs, under the patronage of His Excellency Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, UAE Minister of Culture, Youth & Community Development and with the support and cooperation of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing. Haughton International Fairs have been art fair organisers for close to 30 years, today putting together no fewer than four major events annually in New York City and one in London. In February 2008 they launched the Dubai fair, the first top flight art and antiques event to take place in the region, offering a wide range of works of art from historic to contemporary and including items of Western, Middle Eastern and Far Eastern origin, among them furniture, silver and jewellery, paintings, drawings and prints, carpets and textiles, porcelain and pottery, maps, books, manuscripts and photographs. .In addition, the 2009 edition of Art Antiques Design Dubai acknowledges the exciting of growth of interest in “design†in the region by presenting AAD Interiors, sponsored by 1stdibs.com, the premier online marketplace for antiques, vintage furniture and 20th century design. This is a new concept at Art Antiques Design Dubai. AAD Interiors will incorporate two sets of professionally designed and executed room settings by high profile, New York-based interior designer and architect, Stephen Miller Siegel.
