Second Life Competition

In September of 1893 the most famous land rush in the history of the US took place in the Oklahoma Territory.  Over 100,000 participants of all nationalities participated, on foot, on horse,  in wagons, and on bicycles, at the boom of a cannon that erupted at 12 noon.  Only 42,000 parcels of land were up for grab by the “Boomers”- (those who waited for the cannon blast) but many parcels were already taken by the “Sooners”—(those who snuck in and claimed land early) so many “Boomers” came away disappointed.

Some 114 years later, the call to “Go West” has been converted to the call to “Go Virtual.”  Second Life has effectively ushered in the next great migration into a New Frontier.

Invitation

CtrlShift07 invites you to take part in the “First Great Land Rush of Second Life, 2007”.  Come and stake your claim, plant your flag, and sit your buns on 512 sq meters of pristine, lush undeveloped land on CtrlShift’s private island Lebenswelt.

Drive, run, fly, teleport, pounce, plummet or jet pack from the CtrlShift07 conference base camp.  At 12:00 Noon (GMT) on May 21, 2007, the cannon will sound for all participants to head out onto the open plains to stake your claim, and build your entry.  Entered designs will be judged in two phases by two separate juries in June and July, and we will be awarding a FREE ISLAND within Second Life to the winner. (Valued at $2575.00 US – includes 3 mos. maintenance)

Don’t become the next disappointed “Boomer.”  Entries and available parcels are limited, so better to be a “Sooner”.
