SOM to deliver Vietnam's new tallest building in Hanoi

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill has emerged as the winner of an international competition to design and deliver the new 108-story Smart City Financial Tower skyscraper in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The mixed-use project will become the country's tallest building and is set to include a 'split core' solution allowing for wind turbines to be deployed in the interest of providing renewable energy for its operation. Passive cooling strategies will help the tower 'breathe' in outside air to users, augmented by a communal sky garden.

It will stand as the centerpiece of the 300-acre North Hanoi Smart City development between downtown Hanoi and the city's international airport.

No construction timelines have been provided for now.
