SOM and GAD win chance to deliver Hangzhou Science and Technology Innovation Central Business District in China

Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM) is behind a new winning scheme with GAD that will deliver the Hangzhou Science and Technology Innovation Central Business District in China’s Zhejiang Province.

The master plan they envisioned calls for an almost 2.3-mile-wide regional hub for technology integrated with transit connections and resembling the characteristic landscape of the Jiangnan region. The program will be split into five themed groupings that coalesce around a nearly one-half square-mile tract of green space, tying into the city’s new "world-class city axis” initiative.

SOM says: "The result is a distinctive CBD that blends Jiangnan's charm with modern amenities, offering a balanced environment for work and leisure."
