With fall well underway, now is a good time to see what's in store for the architecture and design community this November.

Making Home—Smithsonian Design Triennial | November 2 – August 10, New York City

"Featuring 25 site-specific, newly commissioned installations, Making Home—Smithsonian Design Triennial explores design’s role in shaping the physical and emotional realities of home across the United States, US Territories, and Tribal Nations. The exhibition is the seventh offering in the museum’s Design Triennial series, which was established in 2000 to address the most urgent topics of the time through the lens of design."

"This edition, under the theme 'CONVERGENCES: Architecture Landscape' will focus on debating the potential of architecture in the construction of the urban landscape. For one week, BAQ2024 promises to be a meeting point for experts in architecture and urbanism, students, and professionals. Through discussions, keynote lectures, round tables, and interviews, it will provide a space for participation and debate that will enrich contemporary practice in our profession."

Zaha Hadid: Paper Museums | Until November 16, London

"The exhibition offers a rare insight into how paper reliefs were important to the design and presentation strategies for three of Zaha’s key museum designs: Contemporary Arts Center (CAC), Cincinnati, USA (1997-2003), MAXXI: Museum of XXI Century Arts, Rome, Italy (1998-2009) and Museum of Islamic Art, Doha, Qatar (1997, unrealised). These projects represent a period from the late 1990s to the early 2000s, when ZHA began realising Zaha’s architectural vision and unveiling the development of her radical ideas revolving around site and space."

Difficult Sites: Architecture Against the Odds | Until March 29, London

"Our latest free exhibition explores remarkable feats of architectural achievement in the face of tricky terrain, awkward urban plots, challenging remodels, and more. From the 1900s to today, it delves into over twenty complex, unusual, and dynamic builds across the UK. Including work from history’s most renowned architects Neave Brown, Grimshaw Architects, and Lord Norman Foster as well as contemporary practices of Tonkin Liu, KnoxBhavan, and Carmody Groarke the exhibition highlights the pioneering spirit at the heart of great architecture. Through original drawings, photography, models, and plans it offers an eye-opening look at how resilient and creative practitioners are in realising the inconceivable against the odds."
