The bid to design an $81 million, 28-story residential tower on the site of Indianapolis' former Market Square Arena just went to RTKL (together with developer Flaherty & Collins Properties). The winning design was chosen by a panel of local government, real estate and community leaders and prevailed over five other competitors.
Project Description from RTKL:
"The project will encompass 300 luxury apartments, 43,600 square feet of ground-floor retail space and 500 parking spaces. RTKL’s design includes a rooftop pool, a green sky window on the roof, and apartments with floor-to-ceiling windows and panoramic views. According to Mayor Greg Ballard, the project will create hundreds of local jobs and help direct funds back into Indianapolis."
""The Indianapolis Market Square Tower is just one component in an overall surge in urban regeneration for the city, but our tower goes a step further by enhancing the skyline," said RTKL Vice President Keith Campbell AIA, LEED AP. "Beyond aesthetics, with the number of jobs and amount of revenue this project is bringing to Indianapolis, this is more than a residential building; it’s an investment in the local community.""
"RTKL is building on a history of work in Indianapolis, including the expansion of Community Hospital North, one of the largest and most advanced women's and children's hospitals in the country, the nationally acclaimed Community Heart and Vascular Hospital, and the Fashion Mall at Keystone master plan, which earned a merit award from the Urban Design Section of the Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development."
