Douglas Haskell Award for Student Journalism

Purpose
To encourage the study of fine writing on architecture and related design
subjects and to foster a regard for intelligent criticism among future
professionals. This year’s award will be given to one or more student
writers or student publications fulfilling these objectives.

Award
A single award of $5,000 will be awarded

Eligibility
Any article in a current publication, print or online, focused on design
issues by a student enrolled in a NAAB accredited school of architecture or
related program such as art history, interior design, urban studies and
landscape architecture. Publications released before 2006 and writing
assignments for class work and not intended for print are ineligible for
submission.

Submission Requirements
Submit twelve copies of the following:
• A cover page with full contact information (name, address, phone and
email), title of essay or story and title and date of publication
• Copies of the publication (original copies not necessary), or if the
article has not yet been published, submit twelve copies of the article and
a letter from the editor stating the intended date and place of publication;
if the article has been published on a web based publication, please submit
printed pages from the website along with the web address. Each entrant may
submit up to two submissions.
• Entries are to be accompanied by a concise statement describing the
purpose of the publication, its intended audience, and the school and
degree program that the entrant is enrolled.
• One copy of each submission will be retained for the Center for
Architecture records
• Provide a self-addressed and stamped envelope for award notification;
copies of work cannot be returned.
• A $15 entry fee paid payable to the Center for Architecture Foundation

Friday, April 18th, 2008.
