COBE to realize winning design for Adidas' Meet & Eat in Germany

By Bustler Editors|

Sports brand giant Adidas recently selected the COBE-led consortium to design the Adidas "Meet & Eat", a new public conference center at the Adidas Group's World of Sports headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany. The winning team — Danish COBE, COBE Berlin, Knippers Helbig, and Transsolar — competed against 29 other teams including REX, Zaha Hadid, and Sauerbruch Hutton.

The 11,000 m2 building has an open, clean design that complements and embraces its natural surrounding landscape. Aside the hints of adidas' insignia through the interior, the "striped" pattern of the roof also seems to subtly nod to the brand's triple-stripe mark.

The building is scheduled to open in 2018.

Read more about it below.

Project description:

"The winning team has created a distinctive landmark for the adidas Group that is flexible, user-friendly   and functional, and highlights the Group’s philosophy: 'performance, passion, integrity and diversity'."

"The 11,000 m2 rhombus-shaped building has a strong relation to the surroundings in the adidas campus area. The building is open to all sides with windows from floor to ceiling, creating a strong connection between inside and outside."

Image: COBE

"Nature is invited in through small winter gardens, where employees and visitors can enjoy their lunch or use the gardens as alternative meeting facilities. For hot summer days, it is possible to open most of the facade."

Image: COBE

”'Adidas Meet & Eat merges with the landscape’s existing terrain, creating an open, green and welcoming building that gathers all members of the adidas family — both employees, sport stars and visitors — as well as multiple functions and flows under one single roof..." -- Dan Stubbergaard, COBE founder and Creative Director.

Image: COBE

"'The iconic roof rests like a carpet covering the building, connecting all functions and creating a building flooded with light',” Stubbergaard continues.
