By Bustler Editors|

Monday, Jun 16, 2008

Archinect contributor Emily Kemper‘s design for a technicolor sushi restaurant “Miso Pretty” was chosen as the winning design of this year’s IESLA Saul Goldin Memorial Scholarship. The entry was officially awarded at the annual Lumen West Awards banquet on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA on June 14, 2008.

The Saul Goldin Memorial Scholarship Lighting Fund awards were established to encourage and recognize students in Southern California who have shown an understanding of and interest in light and its effect on the Built Environment. These awards have been established by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), Los Angeles Section (IESLA).

The IESNA is an international organization whose purpose is to promote lighting education and to develop recommended lighting practices.

It is in the spirit of the late Saul Goldin, an electrical engineer, a lighting designer in Los Angeles since 1960, an architect and beloved teacher at USC and SCI-Arc, that this award have been created.
