Celebrating diversity in "Mixed Plate Hawaii", the Look Up FIlm Challenge People's Choice winner

By Bustler Editors|

Monday, Nov 9, 2015

The people have spoken! The aptly chosen film, "Mixed Plate Hawaii", was voted as the People's Choice Award winner in the AIA Look Up Film Challenge. Created by Kaoru Lovett, Graham Hart, and Ronald Ribao, the film also won third place overall in the challenge, as well as recognition in the Diversity & Inclusion category.

Scroll down for more.

Revolving around the importance of diversity in architecture, the nearly three-and-a-half-minute film pays tribute to the mixed cultural heritage in Hawaii, and how that is distinctly reflected through its built environment.

Watch it in its entirety below.

'When we made this film it was really just about the thoughts that were going through our heads, we are happy, honored, and relieved to find out that so many others feel the same way or appreciate what we have done,' Graham Hart, one of Mixed Plate's creators, said in a statement.

'Mixed Plate Hawaii wouldn’t have done so well had it not been for the influence of the larger community. To see the impact that the greater public can have on something that we worked on is truly humbling,' Kaoru Lovett said. 'The entire experience has left us eager to further explore the relationship between cinema and architecture.'
