Wondering what architecture and design events are happening around New York City? Bustler rounded up a snappy list of event recommendations worth checking out. Coming up this week is the “Immigrants & the Sanctuary City” panel discussion and a presentation of the New York Public Library's renovation plans by Mecanoo and Beyer Blinder Belle. The Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation will host their Awards Gala to honor influential women in architecture. On Friday night, the Center for Architecture will have their annual Guess-a-Sketch game night. Read on for our latest weekly event recommendations.

Immigrants & the Sanctuary City: Then and Now | March 6

On the day after the deadline for the expiration of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA), join us for a roundtable discussion with historian Dr. Mae Ngai, Professor of Asian American Studies and History at Columbia University; immigration rights activist and leader Ravi Ragbir; activist leader Ana Maria Archila of the Center for Popular Democracy; and Bitta Mostofi, Acting Commissioner of the New York City Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs.

Open House New York invites you to a presentation of the renovation plans for The New York Public Library’s Mid-Manhattan Library, with Iris Weinshall, Chief Operating Officer, The New York Public Library; and architects Francine Houben, Founding Partner/Creative Director, Mecanoo Architecten, and Elizabeth Leber, Partner, Beyer Blinder Belle.

In honor of the many influential women in the field of architecture and design, the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation (BWAF) is hosting its Fourth Annual Leadership Awards Gala on March 7th. This special event will also celebrate the 90th birthday of organization founder, Beverly Willis.

Guess-A-Sketch 2018 | March 9

Guess-A-Sketch is a lively evening where architects, architecture enthusiasts, and young professionals gather for an architecture-themed, pictionary-style tournament. Honoree sketchers draw iconic buildings as battling teams guess to win the Guess-A-Sketch trophy. Audience members even play along on Twitter for a chance to win prizes.
