Forty projects shortlisted for 2018 Young Talent Architecture Award

By Justine Testado|

Tuesday, May 22, 2018

“The Bank of England: a dialectical project” by Loed Stolte | Delft University of Technology.

Out of 334 nominated recent grad projects, 40 of them have been shortlisted for the second edition of the Young Talent Architecture Award. Organized by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe with the support of Creative Europe, the YTAA distinguishes top-notch graduation projects from European architecture, urban planning and landscape schools — with China and South Korea participating as guest countries. Four winners are expected to be announced in late June, and will be celebrated in the YTAA ceremony in September during the Venice Biennale.

From a reimagined Bank of England to school prototypes to a new kind of Olympic infrastructure, here's a selection of the shortlisted projects.

“Rhizome” by Arianna Fornasiero, Paolo Turconi | Delft University of Technology.
“Civic Games” by Maeve Curley | University of Limerick.
“Urban Safari” by Sungbum Heo | Hanyang University.
“City of Fatigue” by Joon Il Myeong | Hanyang University.
“TRIADI” by Paul Thynell | Aalto University
“Hong Kong - New New Territories” by Caterina Barbon, Matteo Vianello, Tommaso Petrosino | IUAV University of Venice
“Between the Limit and the Trench” by Margarita Zakynthinou-Xanthi, Elena Mylona, Zoi Tzounidou | National Technical University of Athens
“Stadium Strahov” by Veronika Indrová | Czech Technical University
“Build to make a change” by Francesca Vittorini | Marche Polytechnic University
“Last Landscape” by Simone Marchetti, Sofia Paoli, Beatrice Maria Rogantini Picco | Polytechnic of Milan.
“The Bank of England: a dialectical project” by Loed Stolte | Delft University of Technology.

You can find the rest of the shortlisted projects on YTAA's website.
