Latvia is one of the greenest countries in the world, with almost too many national parks to count protecting its vast natural forests. The Gauja National Park holds the title of both oldest and largest national park in the country, with a variety of landscapes for visitors to enjoy, including cliffs, caves, and rivers.
The Gauja National Park is visited by adrenaline junkies, nature buffs, and cultural enthusiasts alike, being home to over 500 cultural and historical monuments as well as Olympic training tracks and cable cars to bungee jump from.
The Gauja National Park Footbridge competition is tasking architecture enthusiasts with designing a footbridge entryway to the park in honor of its 45th anniversary. Designs should be both welcoming and in keeping with the park, but should also have the potential to become an internationally-recognized landmark in its own right.
With very few specific requirements, the Gauja National Footbridge competition is a chance for designers to create a whole new concept for the national park.
The Gauja National Park Footbridge competition is open until April 26, 2019, with final winners of the US$ 6,000 prize to be announced on July 11, 2019.
