The American Institute of Steel Construction has announced the nine winning projects for their 2020 Innovative Design in Engineering and Architecture with Structural Steel Awards (or IDEAS2 for short), which is regarded as the highest honor in in the U.S. structural steel industry. The awards competition distinguishes U.S.-based projects that demonstrate the exciting possibilities of building with structural steel. It also highlights the importance of teamwork, coordination, and collaboration that goes into successful construction projects.

Submissions are evaluated in four categories defined by total project cost, and a fifth category recognizes excellence in sculptural/non-building structures. The 2020 judging panel evaluated the entries from an architectural and structural engineering perspective, with an emphasis on creative solutions to the project's program requirements.
