Exhibition of Munch/Stenersen Area and Deichman Axis Entries Opened in Oslo

By Bustler Editors|

Monday, Mar 23, 2009

Since March 12, the City of Oslo exhibits the 40 contributions for the Munch Area and the Deichman Axis architecture competition (previously on Bustler).

The list of invited architects includes names like Tadao Ando, Zaha Hadid, and Foreign Office Architects. Among the prequalified architects are Diller Scofido Renfro, Sauerbruch Hutton, and Kengo Kuma Associates.

The Munch Area will have the new Munch Museum with collection of the Stenersen Museum and the Deichman Axis with the Deichman Library. The site for the new buildings is in close proximity to Oslo’s highly awarded new Opera House by Snøhetta.

The exhibition is currently being held in the Kunsthall “Frosken” at Tullinløkka until Sunday March 29. The winners of this highly decorated international competition will be published on March 27. Bustler will keep you up to date! (UPDATE: click here for results)

Here are project images of all invited and prequalified proposals for the Munch Area which have to stay anonymous until the announcement of winners:
