Arizona Middle School Students Win Architectural Design Contest

Four students from Imago Dei Middle School will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to compete in a national contest after winning the regional School of the Future Student Design Competition.

The students spent seven months designing a community resource center, integrating solar panels, shade sails and greenhouses for urban architecture. Local architecture firm ABA Architects mentored the students through the project.

This is the second consecutive year the private, tuition-free school has taken the top prize in the contest, which challenges students to design sustainable projects. Last year, the students placed third nationally.

The national contest will be held April 27.
