The Architect’s Experience at METALCON connects you to the latest architectural metal innovations, metal design trends, and business best practices for architects.

As an architect, you need high-performance building materials with the aesthetics, performance, value, and flexibility to bring your most creative ideas to life. If you can imagine it, metal can fulfill it. From vintage-inspired boutique hotels to ultra-modern office spaces, metal is available in a wide range of colors and finishes to achieve every design objective.

Your clients are hiring you to create a finished product that lasts. Whether you're concerned about the elements, safety, durability, or ALL the above, metal is a proven performer. Not only is metal less expensive to install than most other materials, but it requires less maintenance throughout the structure’s lifetime.  That’s a win for your firm, your construction contractor, and of course, your client.

Happening at the Tampa Bay Convention Center October 6-8, METALCON is the global sourcing, learning, and networking event for builders, contractors and fabricators who use steel, iron, copper, aluminum, and other metals in construction.  This year, we’ve created a “show-within-a-show” for architects, engineers and specifiers eager to breathe new life into projects and delight clients demanding sustainability, resiliency, and beauty.

The Architect’s Experience is your opportunity to discover eye-opening ideas, real-world examples, and knowledgeable partners who will help you:

  • LEARN how metal components can add to your client's building sustainability and resiliency, help your firm when more business, and be more profitable.
  • SEE new types of metal, colors, textures, and finishes clients are requesting in building design today during a guided tour of the show floor, exclusively for architects
  • UNDERSTAND how metal components incorporated into a building can help to improve a building’s energy efficiency for both new construction and retrofit projects.
  • DISCOVER how metal façade elements can be color and profile customized to achieve your design vision.

This exclusive itinerary includes curated education sessions, an architect’s-only guided tour of the show floor, abundant networking opportunities and an optional evening tour to the Salvador Dalí Museum located in nearby St. Petersburg. Described as an “architectural marvel,” this stunning building was designed by acclaimed architect Yann Weymouth, FAIA and combines simple elements with fantastical elements, including a geodesic bubble made of glass called the “Enigma.” Weymouth’s design also includes the museum’s famous helical staircase, a nod to Dalí’s obsession with spiral shapes.

Best of all, you’ll hear from Yann Weymouth himself in an exclusive presentation as part of the evening, including a docent tour of the museum, reception, and transportation.

Architects are sure to appreciate our Metal in Architecture display on the show floor featuring project photos that display metal’s versatility, cost-efficiency and longevity. We invite you to add your best metal project to this showcase. In addition to exposure with thousands of attendees, you’ll have a chance to win the $1,000 prize that will be awarded to the best metal project!  Enter here.

AIA and CSI members receive a 50% discount and architectural students attend for free.
