Seven architects and landscape architects awarded the 2022–23 Rome Prize

Since it was established in 1894, the American Academy in Rome (AAR) is the oldest overseas center for research and independent studies within the arts and humanities. With a list of distinguished winners ranging across eleven disciplines, including architecture, landscape architecture, visual arts, literature, and more, thirty-eight Americans and four Italian artists and scholars were recognized this year.

Mark Robbins, AAR President and CEO: "This year's Rome Prize winners and Italian Fellows represent the diversity of the United States, and their projects build on the Academy's commitment to the global impact of the arts and humanities."

Below are the 2022–23 Rome Prize winners in the categories of Architecture and Landscape Architecture.

Alexa Vaughn, ASLA (Sorda Nella Città Eterna | Deaf in the Eternal City: Deaf and Disabled Storytelling and Creative Investigations in the Aesthetic Intersections of Accessibility and Historic Preservation in RomanLandscapes), Landscape Designer and Accessibility Specialist at MIG

Each winner and fellow will receive a stipend, workspace as well as room and board at the Academy’s eleven-acre campus located in Janiculum Hill in Rome starting this September.
