The 2024 cohort of Loeb Fellowship recipients has been announced today by the Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD). This year's group features nine total fellows whose work touches on fields of infrastructure, climate justice, land ownership, journalism, and other important areas that are all essential keys to the progressive development of architecture and design. Members of the cohort hail from the United States, Colombia, Norway, and South Africa, respectively.

“When we make our selection in the spring, we already know these individuals are highly accomplished and show great promise for growing their influence,” Loeb Fellowship curator John Peterson stated. “Our work is to recognize the opportunity that educational experience and the catalyzing effect of being within the cohort are as vehicles for their potential."

The incoming cohort of 2024 Loeb Fellows are:

  • Catherine Buell, Former Director, Amazon Housing Equity Fund / Washington, DC, USA
  • Akeem Dixon, Founder and CEO, The Intersect / Philadelphia, PA, USA
  • Henry Grabar, Staff writer, Slate / Paris, France and New York, NY, USA
  • Mavis Gragg, CEO, HeirShares / Durham, NC, USA
  • Maria-Mercedes Jaramillo, GarcésSecretary of Planning, City of Bogotá / Bogotá, Colombia
  • Adi Kumar, Executive Director, Ndifuna Ukwazi / Cape Town, South Africa
  • Line Ramstad, Founder and Director, Gyaw Gyaw / Vormsund, Norway
  • Kannan Thiruvengadam, Director, Eastie Farm, Inc. / Boston, MA, USA
  • Joseph Zeal-Henry, Capital Development Manager, Greater London Authority and Cofounder, SOUND ADVICE / London,UK (Zeal-Hnery is the 2024 Loeb/ArtLab Fellow)

The school shares, “They arrive from diverse backgrounds but share a passion and common purpose: to strengthen their abilities to advance equity and achieve positive social outcomes.”

As fellows, each will complete a 10-month residency. Fellows also have the opportunity to audit courses at either Harvard or MIT during the duration, in addition to engaging in panel discussions and other events in Cambridge. The GSD's Dean Sarah M. Whiting said finally, each will "add a special, irreplaceable energy to the GSD community. They come from all over the world, bringing with them such rich and varied experiences and an ambitious optimism that opens our eyes to what's possible. At the GSD, we're incredibly fortunate to count them among us and I can't wait to welcome next year's calls in Cambridge."
