€150,000 Microhome Competition: A Stellar Jury from Kingspan, ArchDaily, UNStudio, Zaha Hadid Architects, MAD Architects, Mario Cucinella Architects, Peter Pichler Architecture, and MIT Senseable City Lab

The Microhome Kingspan Edition competition, with its substantial €150,000 prize pool, is not just a test of design and sustainability but also a gathering of some of the most renowned names in architecture and design. This competition challenges entrants to create an innovative, off-grid modular home within a 25 square meter space.

The Jury's Profiles

David Basulto is the Architect, Founder, and CEO of ArchDaily, the world's most visited architecture website. His experience includes serving on various international design competition juries and curating for the Venice Architecture Biennale.

Ben van Berkel, the Founder and Principal of UNStudio, is also the mind behind UNSense, an Arch Tech company. He's known for his role at Harvard University Graduate School of Design and for his contributions to integrating technology in architecture.

Paolo Flores, Director at Zaha Hadid Architects in London, has a rich academic background, with degrees from the Ibero-American University and the Architectural Association in London. He's known for his expertise in parametric and digital design.

Flora Lee is an Associate Partner at MAD Architects and has been pivotal in developing and realizing several of MAD’s major international projects, showcasing her capability in handling innovative architectural designs.

Martina Martino is the CEO of Mario Cucinella Architects, a firm known for its focus on environmentally and energy-conscious architectural designs, with a diverse portfolio spanning several continents.

Silvana Ordinas, Founder and Partner at Peter Pichler Architecture, has a unique background that combines marketing, management, and architecture. Her studio is known for its innovative projects in Milan and beyond.

Carlo Ratti, Director of the MIT Senseable City Lab and CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati, is a prominent figure in integrating technology with urban planning and design, offering a futuristic perspective to architecture.

Brent Trenga, Director of Sustainability for Kingspan Insulated Panels North America, brings a comprehensive view of the construction industry, with experience spanning architecture, construction management, and project development.

Competition participants will have the chance to showcase their creativity and commitment to sustainability without geographical constraints. Buildner encourages entries that push the limits of design, functionality, and integrate green technology, all while addressing the current socio-economic landscape.

This competition is an incredible opportunity for professionals and emerging talents to make a mark on the future of residential architecture and vie for a piece of the significant prize fund.
