Open House New York invites you to a special evening to conclude Getting to Zero, our yearlong series on New York’s waste system, with a presentation of the Zero Waste Design Guidelines, a groundbreaking new publication for rethinking how design can help us become a zero waste city.
The recent release of the Zero Waste Design Guidelines is an important step towards fundamentally rethinking the way we manage garbage in New York City. Developed in a collaborative process that lasted more than a year and involved over a hundred individuals and tours of more than forty buildings, the guidelines serve as inspiration and resource to help designers, developers, and building operators transform buildings to reduce the amount of waste generated, reconceive of waste as a resource, and improve our streets. Join us to learn more about this important initiative and the crucial role that the design of the built environment plays in ensuring a cleaner, more sustainable future for New York.
The Zero Waste Design Guidelines are an initiative of the Center for Architecture, in collaboration with the AIA New York Committee on the Environment, Kiss + Cathcart Architects, ClosedLoops, and the Foodprint Group, with support from The Rockefeller Foundation.
