Let’s change things together. Join the Association for Women in Architecture + Design (AWA+D) April 28th from 9am to 1pm at the Pssst Gallery located at 1329 East 3rd Street, Los Angeles, CA for the 2018 AWA+D Symposium and AWAF Scholarship Awards. We invite you to enjoy a structured examination of intersectionality in Los Angeles; honor the deserving women winning AWAF scholarships this year; and contribute to truly making this the #yearofthewoman.
For this year's event, we will host a conversation among panelists whose work amplifies underrepresented voices, engages cross-disciplinary thinking, and design for social impact to discuss the recent resurgence of intersectional feminism and catalyze its potentials within the Los Angeles design community. The curated panel discussion will strive to identify intersectional methodologies for professional and creative work, set new ambitions for collaborative models of practice, and advance the implications of inclusion in our field. Our guest panelists are Lori Brown, Gabrielle Bullock, Dr. Dana Cuff, Irma Ramirez and Milton Curry moderated by Sarah Lorenzen.
The group selected for this year’s symposium represents a diversity of voices working in both academia and practice. These women have been invited to contribute their experiences and their work—which AWA+D believes has much to offer to the fields of architecture, planning, and design—to this conversation on intersectional politics. The discussion will follow an awards ceremony for the recipients of the Association for Women in Architecture Foundation (AWAF) scholarships and fellowship. The event will close with an on-site luncheon. For tickets please visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/i...
