The founder of 3XN, Kim Herforth Nielsen, receives the C. F. Hansen Medal – the highest honor among architects in Denmark.
As Principal and Creative Director of 3XN, Kim Herforth Nielsen has received great acknowledgment for his efforts and is one of Denmark’s most notable international profiles in the field of architecture. In the motivational statement from the Jury explaining its decision, they emphasized that “like no other, Kim Herforth Nielsen has maintained an architectural curiosity, combined with the ambition to make the work rise to international standards. Great effort and strong willpower have given rise to buildings such as the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam and the Museum of Liverpool. We are looking forward to the completion of the latter.”
Kim Herforth Nielsen has received other distinguished honors. In 1999, he was awarded the Eckersberg Medal, and in 2000 he was made Knight of The Order of Dannebrog. With the C. F. Hansen Medal, he will enter a remarkable league, as this first-class honor has been given to such great architects as Jørn Utzon and Arne Jacobsen in the past.
The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts presents the C.F. Hansen Medal to honor outstanding work within the arts. The medal will be presented Monday, March 30th during the Academy’s Annual General Meeting.
