The John Stewardson Competition in Architecture

ANNOUNCEMENT:
The Managing Committee of the John Stewardson Memorial Scholarship in Architecture is pleased to announce the 109th John Stewardson Memorial Competition in Architecture.  The winner of this
prestigious competition will receive a $10,000.00 Traveling Fellowship in Architecture presented by the John Stewardson Memorial Scholarship for the pursuit of study of architecture in a foreign country[s] as approved by the Committee.

Travel associated with this fellowship must commence within one year of the award.  If the winner is not able to begin travel within one year of the award, the Managing Committee will award the prize to the designated runner-up.  He or she shall report experiences by one letter each month and by a summary report and presentation to be given at the awards dinner the following year.

ELIGIBILITY:
Each candidate shall expect to graduate from professional studies at an accredited collegiate school of architecture in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania leading to a degree in architecture the year of
participation.  Those who have won the Scholarship are not eligible to compete again.  Only students currently enrolled in an accredited School of Architecture program in Pennsylvania will be eligible
to participate in this competition. 

EXPANDED ELIGIBILITY FOR 2009:
The Managing Committee is pleased to announce that the eligibility requirements for this prestigious Fellowship will be expanded to include post-professional degree graduates, having received their
degree no sooner than two [2] years prior to the competition year [May 2007], working full-time for a Pennsylvania licensed architect in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for a term no shorter than the entire calendar year prior to the competition year [2009].  Those who have won the Scholarship are not eligible to compete again. 

REGISTRATION:
Each candidate shall register by completing the registration form issued to them by their respective programs.  Return this form to your department head for review and signature.  All forms are to be returned by the individual school along with the entry fees to the Managing Secretary along with the competition entries.
