Design a LEED Platinum, mixed-use assisted living facility, which will be an addition to the current living facility. It will be a major draw to Pilgrim Manor; a forty-five year-old, single story, cinder block facility, occupying approximately five acres of property in northeast, Grand Rapids. The project is to build a multi-story facility to house a state-of-the-art cognitive/dementia living unit and “main street†amenities on the ground floor. Independent apartments would occupy three upper floors with 20 one or two bedroom apartments on each floor. The addition of the independent living option would allow us to provide a full continuum of care, aging-in- place model. The second level of the new building would connect into the current first floor level of the remaining facility at Units 1 and 2. Both of these units would provide assisting living care and would require extensive remodeling. The dementia living unit, located on the ground floor, would have parking lot access, an atrium for common area therapeutic activities and green space, access to the main street amenities, and have 28 private rooms for residents. It would also include a kitchen area of meal preparation and therapeutic food activities.
The project will utilize LEED for New Construction or LEED for Existing Buildings strategies to create a unique and integrated urban design aesthetic.
