The Blue Diamond, by Aaron Yassin, 27" x 40", C-print, mounted to aluminum and reverse-mounted to plexiglass, 2012
Simply titled BEIJING, Yassin's latest project is a series of dynamic and mesmerizing architectural photographic composites built from subjects spanning hundreds of years, from the Temple of Heaven to the Bird's Nest Stadium. The images explore the tension between the chaos of the modern day Chinese metropolis and a culture that has spanned millennia. Aaron Yassin received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and his MFA from American University. His work has been shown domestically at the Jersey City Museum, PS 122, and DiVA, and internationally in Taiwan, Argentina, Korea, and Italy. He has been reviewed in the New York Times and the Star Ledger. The exhibition runs from August 2 through September 22 with an artist reception on Thursday, September 6, from 6pm to 8:30pm. http://www.chambersgallery.com
